Ridgewood
$30
Sandip Bhattacharjee (Hindi: संदीप भट्टाचार्य, Bengali: সন্দীপ ভট্টাচার্য্য ) is a prominent North Indian (Hindustani) Classical Vocalist. Gifted with a robust voice, Sandip is today one of the most versatile young classical artists in the country, which is borne out of his regular performances across India and abroad (USA, Europe and Bangladesh). Sandip also broadcasts regularly over the All India Radio as a Grade "A" Classical Vocalist.
Sandip sings in the Kirana Gharana tradition of Khayal music. This style emphasizes perfect intonation, intricate and dazzling improvisation, and deep emotional and spiritual connection. This tradition has had a profound effect on American music already through the figures of Terry Riley and La Monte Young (founders of minimalism and drone music), who are both lifelong devotees.
This concert is co-presented by Long Echo Records
