The workshop will focus on Lorraine Monteagut, Ph.D.'s explanation of ancestral curses, joy as resistance, and spiritual activism from her book “BRUJAS: The Magic and Power of Witches of Color”.
Offerings will include tea, snacks, and a body awareness meditation. This is an opportunity to listen to stories, share your experiences, and connect with your intuition.
All wise women are invited to gather, discuss, reclaim, restore, and reconstruct the power that has been bound for centuries. A witch is a wise woman attuned to her intuition—one who creates medicine, manifests, protects, and guides. We will also discuss how women of color have been, and continue to be, affected by the repercussions of colonialism, capitalism, and patriarchy.
During the 4th century A.D., Christianity was adopted as the Roman state religion. In the centuries that followed, patriarchy and capitalism used the church and religious doctrine to control politics, the economy, and social life, leaving people disconnected from the land and their inner wisdom. Through the spread of colonialism, Indigenous ritual practices, medicine, and history were shamed and suppressed.
